This article explains how to recover files from an encrypted disk or USB drive using Recuva.
First, decrypt the disk or USB drive. Use the encryption program you used to encrypt the device. This could be programs like BitLocker, VeraCrypt, or similar. Open the encryption program, select the encrypted disk or USB drive, and enter the password to decrypt it. After successful decryption, you will be able to access the contents of the device.
Launch Recuva. Select the type of files you want to recover. Recuva will prompt you to choose the types of files you want to recover. Select the desired file types and click the Next button.
Specify the location to scan. Recuva will ask you to choose the location where you want to search for deleted files. Select your decrypted disk or USB drive and click the Next button.
Start scanning. Click the Start button to initiate the scanning process. Recuva will start searching for deleted files on the specified device.
Review the scan results. After the scan is complete, Recuva will display a list of found files. Check the files you want to recover and click the Recover button.
Choose a location to save the recovered files. It is important not to save the recovered files on the same device from which you are recovering them to avoid overwriting data. Choose another device or folder on your computer and click the OK button.
After the recovery is complete, you will receive a notification and be able to open the recovered files.
