Launch Recuva. The first time you run the program, it will offer to use the data recovery wizard. This is a handy tool that will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.
In the wizard, select the type of files you want to recover. These can be documents, images, videos, music, or other files. If you are unsure what type of files to look for, select the All Files option.
In the next step, specify where to look for the lost files. If you are recovering data from a damaged hard drive, select the In a Specific Location option and specify the path to this drive. If the drive does not appear, try selecting I’m not sure and Recuva will perform a more extensive search.
When all parameters are set, click the Start button. Recuva will begin scanning the selected drive or area. This process may take some time, especially if the drive is heavily damaged or has a large amount of data.
Upon completion of the scan, Recuva will display a list of found files. For convenience, results can be sorted by file type, name, modification date, and other parameters. Pay attention to the condition of the files. Recuva uses color indication to denote the likelihood of successful recovery: green – high likelihood, yellow – medium, red – low.
Select the files you want to recover and click the Recover button. Specify a path to save the recovered files.
After the recovery process is complete, check the recovered files to ensure they open correctly and contain the needed information.
It is important to remember that the success of the recovery depends on the degree of damage to the drive and the condition of the lost data.
